Anime Ottawa 2024
Anime fans in Canada’s capital region can now rejoice because a new convention, specifically catering to their love of Japanese pop culture, has officially arrived. Anime Ottawa promises to become one of the fastest-growing events of its kind in the nation’s capital, and from what I’ve seen, they’re already off to a great start. This inaugural event showcased anime, manga, cosplay, video games and music, setting the bar high for future cons. Anime Ottawa’s Masquerade
A standout event of Anime Ottawa is the cosplay competition, aptly named the Masquerade. This event attracted over thirty participants who performed short skits embodying their character, displaying both their passion and craftsmanship to an enthusiastic crowd and for the benefit of the judges.

The guest cosplayers at Anime Ottawa were also the judges for the Masquerade competition. Doll Damage, Symphony and Silk Cosplay and Tammchii Cosplay are all seasoned cosplayers who have previously participated in cosplay competitions and as such bring a unique perspective to the judging process, allowing them to appreciate the dedication and skill behind each cosplay creation.

Vendors and Artists
Anime Ottawa boasted an abundance of talented vendors and artists offering an assorted range of goods. From rare collectibles to exquisite handcrafted artworks, the vibrant vendor hall was a veritable treasure trove of must have merchandise. In this video I met up with Squiresword Creations, Hipster Lasers, Popsquatch Design, Nathan Salmon Spray Paint Artist, and 3D Nerd Creations to learn a little more about their wares and creative process.
