My Love Letter to Cosplay
In this TED Talk video from 2016, Adam Savage talks about his Cosplay journey, from his childhood through to his professional career as an adult. Probably best known for his role on the Discovery Channel show Mythbusters, Adam is in fact quite multi-talented and has extensive experience as a special effects designer and fabricator having created props for various blockbusters films.
My Love Letter To Cosplay by Adam Savage
Adam Savage makes things and builds experiments, and he uses costumes to add humor, color and clarity to the stories he tells. Tracing his lifelong love of costumes — from a childhood space helmet made of an ice cream tub to a No-Face costume he wore to Comic-Con — Savage explores the world of cosplay and the meaning it creates for its community.
“The costumes are how we reveal ourselves to each other”
